When we were at the library last Saturday I saw a flyer for the Summer Reading Program, at the same time Morgan noticed some bins of books by the librarians desk and inquired about the purpose of these books. The librarian told her that they are prize books for the kids who complete the reading program. I asked if Morgan could participate and she said of course, if someone reads the books to her that counts too!
We added her name to the list of participants and she was handed her hours log that she wrote her name on. We have it hanging on the fridge and will be circling away as the weeks go by. We read 20 minutes or more every night and, given the contents of our library bag I think we have plenty of material...
Once she completes her 20 hours and turns in the list she gets to pick out a brand new book of her very own to keep.
