It all started at 5:30 a.m. - well, at least for me. We had tickets for an 11 a.m. circus show in Sacramento and given all the many potential traffic stall-worthy variables we knew an early departure was necessary. Morgan got a small reprieve and got to sleep until 6:15 - we worked with the have jammies will travel concept and I brought along clothes to change into.
For anyone who knows me - I have major hang ups and control issues about driving but on this day my dad was at the wheel and I sat quietly as a passenger (and I was actually without backseat commentary today). I think two things made this possible, a) it was WAY early and b) I was only two days into antibiotics for bronchitis (Morgan has sinusitis so we make a fine pair) - so playing passenger was quite in order.
We met up with auntie Ellen at her house and she, my mom, Morgan and I all headed to the Circus - Ringling Brothers Zing Zang Zoom circus to be exact. I am not sure why I am always surprised, but of course upon arrival there were flashing, spinning, "must have" items everywhere and a very interested little girl. Morgan chose a spinning wand - the big plus I can give it is that it takes normal batteries and can actually be a working wand for a long time to come.
The circus was good overall and Morgan liked it. She was especially interested in all of the animal acts (she really liked the tigers but I just can't love it) they were the only animals that looked really unhappy and honestly I secretly hoped one of them would paw the animal trainer - just one good swap would have been in order. :-) She also really wanted to see a person get shot out of the canon & she got to see not only one but two people projected into the air!
(pictured above is probably the most expensive snow cone EVER.... it has a cup you "get" to keep... ah, have to love the "trappings" of kid events... in fact I have to think that's where the word trappings generated from - parents getting trapped into purchasing.. ha ha ha)
