Halloween

This year for Halloween Morgan decided to be Minnie Mouse. This is a decision that by no means came quickly and without first trying to negotiate.  She was quite sure that she could be at least 2-3 different things given the various events, i.e. school party, trick or treating, etc - so why not an outfit for each? 

Ariel had a strong place in the running, but ultimately Minnie Mouse won this year. And, I think it was a fabulous choice for her.

She really enjoyed her school party, trick-or-treating was another story.  In early afternoon we started at an indoor safe trick or treat (this was our first and it definitely sterilizes the whole fun of it a bit). In any event, she chose not to take candy from any of the men instead making me hold the bag at the stations where men were the distributors. In her defense, most were older and in costume, and well, old men in costumes often = creepy.

On our way out a mom chased after us asking for a picture (her two-year old twin girls wanted a picture with Minnie Mouse). Well, this Minnie Mouse happened to be a four-year-old without a nap, so she turned away, gave her infamous Morgan scowl, and said NO. Minnie Morgan Mouse was not granting photog moments today.

She finished off with some trick-or-treating around the neighborhood (my parent's to be exact) and was VERY choosy about which house she would go to. She visited just a couple, but the area sees few children so each house offered LARGE candy bars - making one house the equivalent of at least 10 small candy ones. :-)

If You're Going to San Francisco...

So... in the interest of being semi-up-to-date I am going to post new stuff, but also throw in some recent "old" stuff. 

Over Labor Day we went to San Francisco. It was our second year doing so and I have decided it is officially our tradition (one of) that we will keep doing moving forward. First, I LOVE San Francisco - so very much and am happy to report so does my daughter. Of course, spending 3 days playing around with mommy doing fun stuff would probably make a kid love any place, but still... 

This year we were able  to fit quite a bit in. Saturday was spent strolling the Zoo (the new updates are really great)! We happened to have a zoo key (supplied by Great Grandma) and I thought that there was no way the zoo key would still work, but it so happened there were a few zoo boxes still standing in the older, non-revamped part. We put the zoo key in and it started playing.  And from there we were the only people in the whole zoo with a special key... I would love to post pictures at this time, however I brought my new camera to the zoo and oops forgot the memory card, therefore we have only mental memories of this day and you will have to imagine. 

After the zoo we headed across the street to Ocean Beach and spent the rest of the afternoon running along the beach, chasing waves, digging in the sand, and at the very last minute (and the expense of my car beeper battery - oh yeah, it fell in the water) we found our very own sand dollar! It was a fantastic day.

Sunday included the Bay Area Discovery Museum and Crissy Field Beach.  The Discovery Museum is in Sausalito and a wonderful place. She can spend hours in the different areas, most of the time spent in the art room. 

We followed the museum by a drive across the Golden Gate and a stop at Crissy Field Beach. My favorite part of the beach adventure - running along the shore. Running I say? Yes, there is a great feeling of running in lower altitude than I am used to. I ran and ran and never tired - so to have the energy of a 4 year old I just need sea level :-).

We finished our trip at Apple Hill (took the long way home) - all for a hay and pony ride, duck bonding, apple donut eating sesh - but it was far worth it!  And, recounting our trip only furthers the establishment of a tradition.

I started this once before, long, long ago. Then decided that the internet was evil and I should abort mission "post info about Morgan". Then sat with the idea again, realized privacy settings, and owned the fact that I am terrible (yes, I know you call all vouch for me) at keeping up with sending information out to family and friends. And, since many are far away from us this will hopefully keep you up to date on the current happenings with Morgan (and myself here and there)...
